Heat Ros


What is it?

Traditional morning dish during festivals.

What you Need

One cup of black gram dal, two cups of coarsely powdered rice. 12 large jackfruit leaves.

1&1/2 cup grated coconut, cup jaggery, a pinch of powdered cardamom seeds

How to make it

Wash dal and soak ove


rnight. Next morning grind  finely adding water to it. The batter should be light and fluffy.  Add powdered rice to it to make a smooth and thick batter adding water if needed.  Keep aside for another four hours in a warm place till batter rises in bulk. Add water to make a batter of pouring consistency. Wash jackfruit leaves and shape into cones. Pin with toothpicks . Pour batter into the 3/4th cones and steam for about 15-20 minutes in a steamer till firm. A skewer inserted should come out clear.

Grind grated coconut coarsely and extract one cup of thick milk. Add 1&1/2 cup of water to the coconut and extract thin milk .Add jaggery and cardamom powder and  mix well.

Peel the heats and take out jackfruit leaves and serve heat with sweet ros.
